OF CONVENTION & KUPEXSA USA

Comrades,
I believe everyone in this forum read the minutes of the last teleconference that was held two weeks ago. When this whole idea of reawakening or renaissance of the Kupexsan organization in the United States started a few months ago, many of you were excited and you embraced the idea with enthusiasm. After all, who would not like to belong to a meaningful, structured and well organized alumni association? I’m sure most of us are proud of being affiliated to PSS/PHS Kumba, an institution that has produced more students living in America today than any other institution in Cameroon. Believe it or not, there are more Kupexsans in America than Sobans, Sakerets or any other alumni association from Cameroon. These alumni associations are engaged in numerous developmental projects in Cameroon to boost the image of their alma mater and provide amenities to their students by offering them a more exciting on-campus experience that fosters educational growth.
What are we (KUPEXSANS) doing? We’re taking the back seat when it comes to developing our alma mater. I really don’t want to say this has anything to do with greed; I believe either we don’t care or we’re just afraid of commitment! We’re not consistent in our actions. It’s time we start looking forward. I understand most of us are still living in the past. Yes, Kupexsans had a bad experience with the past in terms of how things were done with regard to the lack of accountability in our financial transactions, and it’s not very easy to forget that past. We all made some errors, and I believe the errors we made in the past should instill some wisdom in the way we conduct our business in the future. We should be able to use this experience and wisdom to create and strengthen a more powerful organization to meet the needs of our alma mater just like other alumni organizations are doing in Cameroon. I don’t believe we, Kupexsans, are unreasonable enough to accept failure. Most of us have been in this country for quite a long time to understand the power of alumni associations. Harvard, Princeton, Yale, major high schools around the country, etc. have been able to maintain their brand from consistent alumni support. Students from these institutions maintain their pride from a strong brand that they helped establish. We as Kupexsans should copy from these examples and do the same. I’m appealing that we put our collective efforts to establish a stronger PSS/PHS Kumba brand so we all can have a better reason to be proud of that institution.
That said, the last teleconference voted for a contribution of at least $250.00 from each Kupexsan in the U.S. towards the June 2010 convention. At least half of this amount is expected by January 31, and the full amount by March 31, 2010. Please make your check or money order payable to Kupexsa, and mail it to 1720 Mars Hill Road, Suite 8-288, Acworth, GA 30101. Please rest assured that there’ll be accountability and transparency in all financial operations. I’m accepting the responsibility to be held accountable for all contributions and financial transactions until such a time when Kupexsa will have a structure in place. Names of those who contribute and the amounts received will be published in this forum. Much talking without action is not going to take Kupexsa to the level that we all expect. So please show your commitment for this organization and send in your funds.
A reminder will be posted shortly in this forum for our third teleconference which will be held next Saturday, January 30, 2010. If you have any bright ideas, please come forward and express yourself. Long live Kupexsa. Thank you and God bless you.
